House Prices Rising At Fastest Pace Since 2022, Says Nationwide

he average cost of a UK home in August was 2.4% higher than a year ago, according to Nationwide’s latest house price report. It’s a slight increase on the 2.1% recorded in July and marks the fastest pace of growth since December 2022 when the figure was at 2.8%.

Manchester named top hotspot for first-time buyers in Halifax study

Manchester has been named the “first-time buyer capital of Britain” after data revealed that those taking their first step on the property ladder accounted for 75% of home purchases made in the city with a mortgage last year.

In the first seven months of 2024, house prices increased by 1.4%, with all areas of market activity experiencing year-on-year growth; however, the much-anticipated base rate cut has yet to have a significant impact.
